The 2011 WWE Over the Limit pay per view event took place last night in Seattle, Washington. In only a fitting move, the show was dedicated to the late Macho Man Randy Savage, who passed away Friday morning. The show featured no title changes and a few well worked matches. Here are the results.
1. R-Truth defeats Rey Mysterio via pin fall with some kind of Russian leg sweep. After the match, Truth hits Mysterio in the side of the head with a water bottle.
2. Ezekiel Jackson defeats Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett via DQ when Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel hit the ring and attack Jackson. Jackson is then laid out but the three Corre members. Barrett retains the title.
3. Sin Cara defeats Chavo Guerrero via pin fall after a head scissors.
4. Alberto Del Rio came to the ring for a promo. He talked about being better than both John Cena and The Miz. Kane and Big Show make their way to the ring. Kane makes a comment about being upset the world didn’t end yesterday and tells Del Rio to beat it, which he does.
5. WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show and Kane retain the titles over CM Punk and Mason Ryan via pin fall following a double choke slam of Ryan for the pin.
6. Brie Bella retains the Divas Championship over Kelly Kelly via pin fall after the “Bella Switch” and a face buster.
7. Randy Orton retains the World Heavyweight Championship via pin fall over Christian after an RKO. After the match, Orton goes to help Christian up but Christian shakes him off. Christian thinks twice and shakes Orton’s hand.
8. Jerry the King Lawler defeats Michael Cole via pin fall in a “Kiss my foot” match after a flying fist from the second rope. After the match, Eve comes to the ring and hits a moonsault. Jim Ross then comes to the ring and pours BBQ sauce all over Cole’s face. Cole then escapes the ring and makes it to the ramp and but is stopped by Bret Hart. Hart then forces Cole back to the ring and locks in the Sharpshooter while Lawler forces his foot in Cole’s mouth.
9. John Cena retains the WWE Championship over The Miz in an “I Quit” match via submission with the STFU. The match originally ended with The Miz winning after a chair shot and a voice recorded Cena saying “I Quit” but was restarted by the referee.
Here is what Metro Detroit has the say about the show.
“It was nice to see the pay off for an over done Cole/Lawler feud. The Orton/Christian match was entertaining as well,” said Dave S. of Southfield, MI.
“Sin Cara looked very uptight in his match with Chavo, would like to see them go at it again though,” said Don E. of Redford, MI.
